Help Thailand's forgotten strays
A safer future for Thailand's stray animals
Thailand’s beautiful beaches, breathtaking landscapes and bustling cities are home to millions of stray dogs and cats. Well-run shelters are extremely rare and many attempt to house hundreds to thousands of dogs, but their limited funding prevents them from giving them adequate care. Many animals are thus dumped at temples because of the common misconception that the monks will look after them. These temples become centres of animal suffering where malnutrition, fighting and even death are common.
FOUR PAWS has teamed up with the Thai charity Headrock Dogs Rescue to help address the suffering of stray animals in western Thailand. The goal is to improve animal welfare through sustainable education and engagement with local communities. The outreach team also responds to animal emergencies, provides desperately needed medical care and helps with adoptions. Temple cats and dogs are enrolled in a feeding, vaccination and sterilization program while the monks and nuns are educated on animal welfare, all of this at no cost to the temples.
Outside of the temples, the program sponsors sterilization, treatment, vaccination services for pet owners who might not otherwise be able to afford medical care for their animals.
Please support our vital work and give Thailand’s dogs a safer future.
