A new home for rescued bile bears

A bear's natural habitat usually includes wide stretches of forests where the animal can hunt, sunbathe and roam freely. For the bears used in bile bear farming however, this couldn't be further from their reality. Crammed into tiny cages, they are often subjected to excruciating pain to have their bile extracted over and over again. As they are often caught as cubs, they will never know anything but a life of pain.

FOUR PAWS accommodates and cares for these rescued bile bears. BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh offers species-appropriate accommodation for up to 44 bears as well as a natural habitat to recover, a quarantine station looking after the new arrivals, veterinary station and a bear kitchen catering to the often starved bears on a site of 3,6 hectares.

As a support to the Vietnamese authorities, the sanctuary is able to house and care for bears confiscated by the authorities or given to us by cooperating farmers.

So far, we have been able to rescue 30 abused bears. With your help, we want to enlarge BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh and help create a torture free future for many more bears.
